| Mt Evans has more Marmots per mile that any other known mountain in Colorado.
Marmots spend most of their day sleeping in their dens. A marmot is a rodent
that physically resembles a beaver, except for the tail. It hibernates in
the winter and thus emerges in the spring a much thinner animal. Between
spring and fall, it will gain between 10 and 15 pounds, mostly by eating
grasses early in the morning and late evening. |
