Weekday:
The best days for your visit are weekdays. Why? Because on the weekends,
Mount Evans is a favorite of Colorado natives and recent transplants and
parking at the summit is limited and fills quickly on Saturday and Sunday.
On weekdays, you will usually be able to find parking at or near the summit.
Very early or very late in the day:
The mountain is truly its best early in the day. The eastern morning sun
slowly warms the mountain, marmots and other creatures of the mountain.
Many animals are out of their dens using that morning sun as a way to start
the day. In addition, your odds of finding herds of bighorn sheep and mountain
goats are greater early in the day.
Late in the day, most animals are taking an opportunity to get at the last
food of the day before they return to their dens or find a spot to bed down
for the night. |
