September 1, 2009 was the last full day for the top 5 miles on Mount Evans and it was a record day for visitors. The big animals were present in the early AM but with the increased traffic, quickly moved to the less accessible parts of the mountain. The sheep were found just above Lincoln Lake and the mountain goats at mile post 12 and pano was high on the mountain just before Summit Lake. 2008 has been a good year for Mount Evans and hopefully CDOT will fix both the 1.5 mile stretch of the road starting at Lincoln Lake and the tundra area near Summit Lake before next season.
