University of Denver Meyer-Womble Observatory

The summer of 1996 witnessed completion of the new 2,100 square foot Meyer- Womble Observatory, atop Mt Evans, superceding the previous telescope and, until late 2000, the highest observatory on earth. The aerodynamically shaped building includes the Meyer Binocular telescope, a dual 0.7 meter R-C system, designed with seeing accommodation for thermal and airflow effects, plus the use of adaptive optics. First light was achieved 16 August 1997, with views of the moon, Jupiter, M13, Vega and M57.
