May, 29, 2008 — The top images is of the vaulted toilet at the Summit. I can not remember when it was not there. The second image is of the vaulted toilets that are part of the new Dos Chappell Nature Center at Mount Goliath. The Dos Chappell Nature Center was completed and dedicated in 2007. There is a third planned for Summit Lake and construction will start in 2008 or 2009. Current plans for the Summit Lake area (mostly a Denver Mountain Parks property) is a redo of the parking lot in 2008 and improvements to the trail to the Chicago Basin overlook in 2009. Both are much needed and will be funded with the Denver Mountain Parks share of the entrance fees. The Forest Service will fund and build the vaulted toilet.
All three of these improvement are much needed and funded by your access fees.
